Wow...What a good topic for me right now.

Lately I've actually been...Struggling you could say, about what I want to do with my life. College in particular. I know I want to do something related to computers...Lately I've been really into movie making and editing..But my parents hate that I spend so much time on the computer doing it. So I'm afraid to tell them what I might wanna do has to do with computers. And possibly even video game design...Just a thought I've had though. Anyways..I need to figure out something. I'm almost 17 for pete's sake. I just can't figure it out yet.

I'm in the same boat as Philip, but starting to be thrown over-board. XP As of right now, I am training to be a horse-shoer, and will most likely be the path I am taking for the next while. That's not to say I'm not going to college/University, but I'm not right now. I honestly think this is the path G-d is leading me down, as I have prayed about this work.
But up until I started my training, I was completely lost. I had no clue what I wanted to do. That explains why I didn't post in here earlier. XP.
My two cents.

Well Phil, it seems like you have found something that you really enjoy. And if working with computers is something that you would like to do, I say go for it. Parents hate the fact that you spend time on a computer doing things when they think you should be doing something else, like homework or something active. However if your active and homework is being well kept, I think you'll find it hard to find opposition from them. Especially if it something as serious as this. Computers are are starting to make their way into just about everything now, it is the future, and it is a good business (or so I hear). Your old enough, talk to them as (young) adult, I think you'll be surprised.

Yeah I've actually been talking to my dad about video editing and stuff a lot and with us just moving here he's also hunting for a job and were considering a joint business between my dad and I that involves shooting/editing/uploading videos and podcasts for people. It actually sounds like it could work and be profitable.
